Practising Zhineng Qigong
Practising Zhineng Qigong
There are six levels of Zhineng Qigong practice. The 1st level is the Peng Qi Guan Ding Fa (Lift Qi Up Pour Qi Down). This practice is the most basic form and teaches us how to harness external Hunyuan qi and exchange it with our inner body qi. The 2nd level is the Xing Shen Zhuang (Method of Body Mind Form) to activate qi in all parts of the body (e.g. muscles, tendons, bones, tissues, vessels, arteries, etc) through the training of mind and body. Wu Yuan Zhuang (Five Hunyuan Form) constitutes the 3rd level of Zhineng Qigong practice to cultivate qi in our heart (sin), liver and spleen (gan), pancreas (pi), lungs (fei) and kidneyts (shen). The 4th level is the Zhong Mai Hunyuan Gong (Middle Channel Hunyuan ti) to unify all bodily qi with the middle channel (meridians). The 5th level of Zhineng Qigong practice is the Zhong Xian Hunyuan Gong (Middle Line Hunyuan Method) to unite the heaven and earth qi. Finally, the 6th Level Fanben Guiyuan (Unity with the Universe) to unite universe qi.
Of the six level of practice, the Sabah Huaxia Zhineng Qigong Center offers training for only Level1st and 2nd to the general public. Higher levels of training can be obtained from Zhineng Qigong Centres within or outside Malaysia at your own discretion.
In addition to the two main practice offered at the Center, five other supplementary exercises are added to the regular routine. Chen qi is conducted prior to Peng Qi Guan Ding Fa and/or Xing Shen Zhuang. Its purpose is to enrich qi in our body through an in-out push of the arms. Following the 2nd level of practice i.e. Xing Shen Zhuang, San Xin Bing Zhan Zhuang (Three Points Converging Standing Posture) is performed to cultivate Hunyuan qi in all parts of our body. This practice is succeeded by Xun Jing Dao Yin Fa (Method to disperse qi across the body) to distribute qi equitably in our body. Zhituizuo Song Yao Fa (Straight leg sitting) is another supplementary practice offered at the Center to strengthen qi in our spinal cord. Dūn qiáng or wall squat is another exercise to help build muscle endurance and mindfulness.
Teaching Methods
Zhineng Qigong is delivered by three methods:
Qi field (氣場) - A qi field refers to the cultivation of qi at the place of practice to amplify and enhance the individual qi of each practitioner. Typically, the instructor will build qi field collectively with practitioners at the start of a practice session resulting in a more powerful qi cultivation.
Instructions – This comes in two methods: (1) oral and (2) tape-recorded. The subtle difference between the two is that the former imparts the theory of Zhineng qigong over an extended time before or after the practice session.
Demonstration – This method deepens the learning process through a one-to-one demonstrative teaching. It is especially helpful for beginners who have difficulties in putting the theory of Zhineng Qigong into practice.
